In Yogic thinking our body is made up of 5 elements: : fire or energy, air, sky and ether, earth and water.
Each of our 5 fingers represents one of these elements:
Thumb = Fire or Energy
Index Finger = Air
Middle Finger = Sky and Ether
Ring Finger = Earth
Little Finger = Water
Three Mudras ( of 100s):
PRANA MUDRA
For general health and life-threatening illnesses. Prana means vital or life force in Sanskrit.
Touch together lightly the tips of the thumb (fire or energy), the ring finger (earth), and the little finger (water).
Bringing these three fingers together makes some special energy start to flow and rejuvenates the whole body. The body's "battery" gets fully charged and it starts to function properly - the special life or vital energy starts flowing inside the body with tremendous force.
Practicing the Prana mudra activates the immune system. The more it is practiced, the better the result.
Also strongly recommended for under-activity of the thyroid. It is also good for various eye weaknesses.
JNANA MUDRA
For improving brain power and memory; insomnia.
The Jnana Mudra is called the wisdom posture because jnana means knowledge in Sanskrit. Buddha's hand is most often shown in this posture.
In this mudra, Fire and Air are combined by lightly touching together the tip of the thumb to the tip of the index finger; a beneficial finger exercise everyone should do.
This mudra increases blood flow to the brain, thus it helps brain power and memory.
It can be useful; for suffers of insomnia.
It is also the posture that generates harmony, peace, bliss, and knowledge of the mysterious universe beyond our conscious knowledge.

PRITHVI MUDRA
For increased bodily energy and flexibility of mind
In Sanskrit, prithvi means earth. When fire touches earth, the dynamic of the body starts changing.
Touch the tip of the thumb ( fire or energy), to the tip of the ring finger (earth).
This mudra helps when there is weakness in the body due to lack of vitamins. By the renewed flow of energy, the part of the the body lacking nourishment, starts getting it.
This mudra also helps to promote flexibility of mind; one becomes more open-minded, less obstinate, and more open to the ideas of others.
This is also the mudra whose practice leads to the experience of different kinds of bliss.
For HEALING, do each mudra for at least 45 minutes at one time or for two 30-minute periods. Except where otherwise specified, the more you can do the mudra, the faster the benefits will materialize.
A mudra is most effective if done with both hands simultaneously.
Good times to do a mudra is while walking, watching television, or at the movies. Instead of sitting with fingers idle, try to get into the habit of doing a mudra.
